WELCOME TO BIOLOGY
Biology is a state tested subject. This means that each student must not only successfully pass the class but must also pass the SATP2 State Biology Test. The test is administered at the end of the semester and will be comprehensive. Not to worry because my job is to prepare these students and as long as students are doing their part, engaging in class discussion, keeping up with assignments, and most importantly, STUDYING then your mind can be at ease because they will be ready!
What do you need to know as the parent or guardian?
What do you need to know as the parent or guardian?
- Encourage them to study nightly - even if they don't have a scheduled test, it is a good habit to go back and look/read over the material from the day. College is upon them and study habits need to be formed early on!
- Know that they will have an assessment weekly. It could be in the form of a quiz or test but know that they will have some sort of assessment at least once a week.
- If your student tells you they don't have homework, they are probably correct. There isn't much in the form of homework in my class unless there is a daily assignment they don't finish in class. BUT refer back to #1. There is always homework in the form of studying!
- Throughout the semester, students will be an interactive notebook using a standard composition notebook that will contain all the major concepts they need to know to prepare for the state test. This is great tool they can use in preparation for the state test.
